Dear Friend,

I want to tell you about a very special cause that not only affects me as a woman but thousands of Americans each year. It is the fight against breast cancer. 17 years ago, my mother lost her battle with cancer. Today, I ask you to join me in continuing to fight this horrible disease.

This summer, I will be walking 100 miles to further the fight against breast cancer. On August 21-22, I will walk 40 miles through Vancouver, British Columbia during the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. August 27-29 (yup, five days later!) I will walk 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3-day through beautiful Chicago – my mom's hometown.

This will be the third year in a row that I have been involved in the walks to end breast cancer. For some of you, this will be the third time you have dug deep into your pockets and supported me in my fundraising efforts. I am grateful for your continued support. My combined fundraising goal for these two walks is $3600. This money will go to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide a permanent endowment for breast cancer initiatives.

Please close your eyes for a moment and envision someone you know who has battled cancer. You may be one of the lucky few who does not know a single person who has had cancer. The majority of us will have more than one person come to mind. For that person, and for all men and women who will be diagnosed with cancer, please take a moment to make a donation.

I realize that times are tight and that making a donation might seem impossible to do, but every cent helps. Please, too, take a moment to forward this email to anyone you may know who would be interested in supporting my journey. Together, I know we can end cancer.

Thank you for all of your support!

Elaine

P.S. Every year, I carry a list of loved ones who have battled cancer. Please email me any names you would like me to carry for you.
